Senior Editorial and Communications Officer - Oxfordshire

Who will I be working for?

A brilliant client at the forefront of their industry. They offer a really supportive culture with excellent benefits. Due to a period of maternity leave they are now seeking to appointed a talented Editorial and Communications Officer. 

What will I be doing?

  • Working with the technical teams across the full range of sector specialisms to identify content opportunities that respond to organisational strategy and priority audiences.
  • Developing content in a wide range of formats, including company publications, opinion pieces and blog posts and video content.
  • Writing or producing pieces yourself, as well as providing an editorial and approval role on other team members content.
  • Managing two members of the Communications team, overseeing the day-to-day management of their workloads and supporting their development longer term.
  • Fostering new and established relationships with journalists, bloggers and editors in the development community, to place and position content.

What skills and experience are required?

  • A strategic thinker able to see the big picture and join the dots in delivering work that supports organisational aims.
  • The ability to assimilate highly technical and niche materials into digestible and engaging content.
  • A creative flair with desire to innovate and an energetic approach, able to identify new opportunities for showcasing thought-leadership and high-profile staff.
  • Education to degree level or relevant work experience, with substantial experience of communications, public relations, writing and editorial work.
  • Outstanding communications skills, both written and verbal, with a track record for producing clear, concise, accurate copy for a range of different audiences.
  • Digital-savvy with experience optimising content for a range of online platforms.
  • Highly organised and great at time management, with the ability to cope with several jobs simultaneously and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills, good at networking and building strong relationships.
  • A team player with the ability to use own guidance and initiative to prioritise work and handle different demands appropriately.

The company offer excellent benefits. The role will be offered initially on a 9-12 month contract.
